187 Trees in Jakarta Collapse in Two Weeks
Pojok Fakta. The DKI Forestry Service records 187 fallen trees in Jakarta within two weeks or from the end of November to Tuesday (11/12).
Acting Head of Forestry Service Suzi Marsitawati said that in addition to fallen trees, there were 191 broken trees in Jakarta.
According to Suzi, there were a number of factors that caused trees to collapse or break in Jakarta. "Because of strong winds, because trees are old, porous, roots are damaged by excavation," Suzi said when confirmed, Tuesday (11/12)
To overcome this, Suzi claimed his side had made efforts to trim branches or upper branches of trees.
Suzi said the cuts had been routinely carried out throughout the Jakarta area.
The DKI Jakarta Forestry Service has recorded 7,480 trees, 6,253 North Jakarta Sub-dept. 5,724 Central Jakarta Sub-dept. 5,187 West Jakarta Sub-dept. 21,172 South Jakarta Sub-dept. And 11,413 trees in East Jakarta Sub-dept.
"The total (total pruning work) is 57,229 trees," Suzi said.
Suzi explained that tree pruning is not based on the age of the tree, but based on the height of the tree. According to him, the Forestry Service routinely prunes trees about 20 meters high.
Suzi said, for affected communities from fallen trees can ask for compensation. The process, the community just needs to send a request letter by attaching the location of the incident, photos, police certificate, KTP and KK.
After that, according to Suzi, the Forest Service will process the compensation. However, for the period of compensation, Suzi could not confirm it because it depends on the duration of the insurance process.
